les nuits de la pleine lune 1984 1h 41 mins
This is possibly Rohmer’s most perfect film, starring the beautiful Pascale Ogier who died tragically young shortly after it was completed. She plays Louise, who moves with her architect fiancé Rémi to live in the New Town of Marne-La-Vallée, which Rémi is helping to design. But Louise finds life in the suburbs stifling and keeps her pied à terre in Paris so she can still have a fun social life with her outgoing friend Octave. One night, unable to sleep because of the full moon, she goes to a café and chats to an artist who is also unable to sleep. She shares that she feels as if she does not really have a home anywhere.
